Ilford Businesses vote YES for a BID
“Ilford town centre is a great place to do business,” that’s the message from Rai Holdstock, Chairman of ITCM Ltd is sending out to all businesses in Ilford Town Centre as part of ITCM’s work towards achieving BID status for the town. Across the country successful BIDs have been shown to increase economic growth, generate greater footfall and help encourage greater staff retention.
BIDs give local businesses the power to effect changes that will benefit them in their local community. Businesses in the area will vote on whether they want to fund and oversee a programme of improvements that will go above and beyond the Council’s basic provision and improve the trading environment for all. The BID demonstrates the local business community’s appetite to develop a series of projects and services that will reaffirm Ilford's place among the finest trading centres in London.
The BID Team is proposing using funds raised to deliver three main projects, Safe, Ambience and Promotion. The crux of the proposals will involve giving Ilford Town Centre a dedicated, on-the-street Neighbourhood Management Team that will deal with any issues as they arise in the area, such as
graffiti, litter, cleansing, policing etc. The proposals are especially important in these difficult economic times as they provide a blueprint for growth.

The ‘Yes’ vote mean that Ilford is the 2nd BID in Redbridge along with Hainault Business Park, which has seen tremendous improvements to their trading environment from BID funding. It is no surprise that the BID also had strong political support with Mike Gapes MP for Ilford South and Lee Scott MP for Ilford North enthusiastically championing the cause.
